Ch. Zebaa's Lullaby of GAIA"Amber" Fifteen Months Amber is the youngest of the GAIA Greyhounds. She was born on January 27, 1998 and is the daughter of Ch. Sporting Fields Master Grey out of Ch. Hexham Mokan Rhythm 'N Blues. I was not going to take a puppy from this litter, and told the breeders so in no uncertain terms before the litter was born. I went to see the puppies for the first time when they were only nine days old. When I saw the pudgy little blue fawn baby snuggled in amongst her littermates, something tugged on one of my heartstrings. The next time I visited, the puppies were four weeks old, and getting around fairly well on short little legs. Of course this same little blue fawn youngster climbed into my lap, curled up, and fell fast asleep. "I am not taking a puppy," was the mantra I repeated all the way home from Detroit that next morning. When I visited again, the puppies were six weeks old and I left a check on the dining room table on my way out the door. At nine weeks of age Amber rode home in the van with me.
Amber was raised by herself and she was very spoiled. While learning to be a show dog, we practiced many tricks. She learned to sit, speak, shake hands, bow, lie down, stay, catch, fetch, play hide and seek, hide biscuits, find them, the list goes on. If she does not turn out to be a show dog, maybe she can join a circus! Like her father, Amber is quite precocious (even though she flunked out of puppy kindergarten!). Amber recently finished her American championship and has nine points toward her Canadian title. She is quite an elegant young lady, but still has much maturing to do. Her rich color and incredible expression caused one exhibitor at a recent show to remark that Amber was the most beautiful Greyhound she had ever seen. Currently, Amber is taking a break from the show ring and spending her time rolling in the grass and chasing toads in the back yard. She doesn't know it yet, but there are still a lot more tricks that she can learn!
